SQL Server Experts Breakfast Panel at the US PASS SUMMIT!

I'm going to be attending the PASS Summit in Seattle this November which is looking like its going to be legendary both in size and content, While you're there there are a number of special events, including an expert panel focussed on automating SQL Server processes that Quest Software is sponsoring.

Irrelevant? Wrong! When you as a DBA can redirect your time to process and business improvements, you've got more time once automation is implemented to focus on the value add (but still extremely important) stuff like performance tuning, disaster recovery planning, coffee making and closing off feature requests!

There are some gotcha's though... like:

  • Making the automation tools too complex;
  • Spending more time on debugging the tools than working on your value add intiatives;
  • Not planning for scale;
  • Reinventing the wheel, when others have covered that ground before;
  • Forgetting about historical logging and reporting.

 The experts you'll be able to drill with your questions:

  • Allen White, SQL Server MVP and Trainer for Scalability Experts (moderator)
  • Kevin Kline, SQL Server MVP and Technical Strategy Manager, Quest Software
  • Brent Ozar, SQL Server Domain Expert, Quest Software
  • Buck Woody, Program Manager, SQL Server, Microsoft
  • Dan Jones, Product Manager, SQL Server, Microsoft
  • Thomas LaRock, Database Engineering Lead, ING Investment Management
  • Charley HananiaProduction Product Owner, SQL Server, UBS

Triggered your interest? If so, come and tell us about your experiences and hear about some of ours, as well as what we've seen work, fail and struggle in the past.

When:

Thursday, November 20, 2008
7:00 - 8:30 a.m. (breakfast served until 7:30)

Where:

Seattle Convention Center
Room 613 (6th floor)

From what I hear, seats are filling fast, so you'd better RSVP online for the event soon...
