Meeting Abstract
Greg Larsen will discuss the new Data Collection component of SQL Server 2008. This presentation will cover how the Data Collection feature can be used to gather, monitor and provide trend analysis for key performance indicators in your SQL Server 2008 environment. The session will discuss the architecture of the Data Collection component, how to configure it to collect statistics, and will review some of the standard reports available. Greg will also talk about how you can extend the data collection process by defining your own data collection routines.
Presenter Bio
Greg has been working with SQL Server since 1999, and has been a DBA since 1986. He currently is the Lead DBA for the Washington State Department of Health. Greg holds both a MCITP Database Administrator and Database Developer certification. Greg has authored over 100 articles related to technology most of which have been related to SQL Server. Greg also hosts a website (www.sqlserverexamples.com) that contains numerous T-SQL code snippets.
